QUALITY
·
How dependable is your product?
We carry Schlegel(TM) brand products,
which are known throughout the industry to be one
of the most durable, and dependable products on
the market. We
can provide any technical information you might
need on these products.
·
What are the advantages and disadvantages between
your thermoset(Qlon) and thermoplastics(aptus & poly-flex)?
o
Thermosets- These
are nearly impervious to shrinkage and expansion. This means that the height and reach of the seal won't be
compromised, and you will get the best possible
seal out of your weatherstripping.
o
Thermoplastics-
Not as commonly used in construction these days,
but are inexp
ensive being about half the price
of a thermoset for the same amount of material. However, the shape and size of the material
is compromised after a few years.
APPLICATION
·
How is your weatherstripping applied, or attached?
Most of our weather seal is a
kerf seal, or is applied by inserting a barbed
anchor into a channel. Most
doors and windows have fairly standard kerf sizing. For doors, it's usually .125"x.500", and windows are .078"x.312". Although T-slot, and
surface mounted weatherstripping
is available, the majority of what we carry is
a kerf seal.
·
How much weatherstripping do I need for each
door/window?
It depends on what size door or
window you have, here are a few standard sizes
to help determine how much you will need:
o
3'0"wide x 6'8" high
door= 17 feet or 3/82" pieces
o
3'0"wide x 7'0" high
door= 17 feet or 2/86" and 1/82" pieces
o
3'0"wide x 8'0" high
door= 19 feet or 2/97" and 1/82" pieces
Use the same numbers for 4 foot
wide doors. For window applications, call for instructions.
